Piglets and Rice, Part 1August 25, 2014
Sunday, August 10 - Prayer Request: sale of piglets. We have 35 piglets for sale, but haven’t been able to get rid of them. We’ve been trying for over a month. We set up pens at two local churches, but only 4 out of 20 sold. People wanted to take them on credit, and pay later. But we don’t like to work with credit. The piglets are about $45-50 each. People wanted a discount. They wanted them for $35 or $40, but we already had so much pig feed in them, we would be losing money to sell them for less. The sale of the piglets could bring in one to two thousand dollars, to use to buy rice and cover other expenses. We are spending so much on pig food, and hope to get it back (with profit) during the month, from the sale of pigs. Praise: After church today, Pastor Puerto brought the offering to Luke. It was P7,000 ($163), the largest Sunday offering ever, at the Door of Hope. Someone had sold land, and given their tithes to the Door of Hope. Later someone brought P1,600 of payment for a debt. So God sent P8,600 in one day, from local sources, enough for Luke to send Pastor Padon to Puerto to get more pig food, and two of Luke’s tires repaired, and inner tubes put in.
August 19 - Luke is in Puerto getting supplies Prayer request: No more rice and no money to buy any. Luke will probably send rice on the jeep today, from Puerto, because he knows we're out. It will get here tonight. So we just need enough rice for 2 more meals. “Lord, Please provide rice for the children's home and the Bible school, for lunch and dinner."
Excerpt from Streams in the Desert 2 for today, August 19th - George Muller was asked many times, “How did you manage the care of 10,000 orphans?” He replied, “I hope in God.” What is hope? Webster: Hope is desire accompanied by expectation. Muller: “God has never let one down who hopes in Him. Oh the hundreds, yea thousands, of times that I have found it thus within the past 70 years! When it seemed impossible that help could come, help DID come, from God! … In ten thousand different ways, at ten thousand different times, God may help us!”Daily Light: 1 John 5: 14 & 15 This is the confidence that we have in Him, if we ask anything, according to his will, He heareth us. And if we know that He heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petition that we desire of Him.
Answered Prayer: Padon's were able to trade two piglets for a sack of rice in Katuwayan. :) We didn't miss a meal with rice, and the rice Luke sent on the jeep arrived this evening.
